I mean, do you really think anybody read your comment and thought "Wow, what a comedy genius! That was hilarious and original."? No, a handful of PC elitists simply went "damn right" and hit the up vote button, nothing more. Joke or not, it's old, unhelpful, and annoying to many. This happens every time a Mac is mentioned on this sub, and it's not clever anymore. No, it didn't hurt anybody, but it gets annoying when people come to the GAMING reddit with a legitimate question, and the first/top comments are "Hur hur buy a PC!". I've run it multiple times throughout the years via the method I described.ĮDIT: Also consider running the windows version through wine, it might work great. I wouldn't suggest trying to play modern games this way, as the graphics cards and system RAM isn't ideally optimized (people spend thousands of dollars building gaming PC's, so it's not trivial to get that performance out of machine not designed for even the OS you are running), but for older games like RCT 1, bootcamp, or even virtualization (given you have at least 4gb RAM) through VMWare Fusion, is totally doable.

If you have some space on your drive, make a small partition on it with Disk Utility to run XP or Windows 7 (or an older linux if you want) and just run classic games from there.

Mac's can all run windows, or linux, or whatever, and the drivers Apple's "Bootcamp" provides are honestly very good. As a result, it's not really possible to play RCT natively on a newer mac without virtualizing the classic environment, which is a pain. The issue is one of system architecture: it's the same reason any given console isn't backwards compatible: it's not because they (Microsoft, Sony, whoever) are jerks, it's because technology advances and decisions have to be made at times. Unfortunately, Roller Coaster Tycoon (the original) only runs in the "Classic" mac environment, which means the game was originally developed for PowerPC processors.
